The results of these different methods showed high correlations.

Judgments about bilingual structures can be rejected because mixing two languages is often considered unacceptable or ungrammatical. This conception of data as intuitions is also problematical when researching children acquiring two languages as they are also unable to express grammatical judgments, especially if they are very young. The use of performance data and statistics (frequencies) obtained from corpora of data is a good method to assure reliable grammatical theorizing (see Tokowicz & Warren, chapter 12 in this volume).

How are sentences produced and comprehended when the grammar of the two languages is similar in some ways but different in others? What can bilinguals tell us about cognition?
